Korea Lee


Recognized as one of the best Korean violinist of her generation; her performances have received praise for stable technique and delicate sound color.


Born in Seoul, South Korea, Korea Lee began her violin studies at age 13 and promptly enrolled in the University for music and performing arts, Vienna, where she studied with Klaus Maetzl. Within few years later she had already performed with several orchestras in Europe.


Though her performances overseas and throughout Europe have included radio and television broadcasts, recordings, solos with orchestras and chamber music concerts, she is known as a colorful emmotional recitalist. Her recital programs invariably include shorter works, of which she is so fond, as well as the larger masterpieces of the violin repertory.


As a chamber musician Korea Lee works with nummerous excellent musicians. Together with Yoosoon Lee she forms the Fanny Mendelssohn Trio.


Her recital tours and concert collaborations will take her to Monte Carlo, Japan, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Korea.


Her musical development has been decisively influenced by Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Vladimir Spivakov, Daniel Hope, Elena Mazor, Klaus Maetzl, Julian Rachlin, and by International Conductor Maestro Riccardo Muti.


Through working together with music producer of ORF, Heinrich Mader. She developed several film/music recordings for ORF.


Korea Lee likes to play modern music and works often with the professor of the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna, Johannes Kretz.
